About Pawsome Pet Care…
About The Owner:
My name is Karyn Burch. I grew up in Sycamore. My passion for pets began during my childhood. We always had a dog and cat growing up. My husband and I, along with our 3 children still live in Sycamore. We have 3 dogs of our own. I am a former elementary school teacher. After having my third child I decided to resign from teaching and stay home to take care of her. Staying at home has also allowed me to foster through Tails Humane Society. For the last 3+ years, I have been caring for pets through an online company. When my youngest child started school full time in 2022, I decided to follow my dream and start my own small pet care business called Pawsome Pet Care. I love being able to provide a pet with a bathroom break, exercise, playtime and some human company during the day while alleviating some stress for the owner. I also love that I can provide daily care for the pets in the comfort of their own home while their loved ones are away, as I know a boarding facility can be intimidating, overwhelming or lonely for some pets and their owners. I also love hosting dogs in my home where we make your dog a part of our family.
About Our Home:
We live in a neighborhood on the North side of Sycamore. We have a 1/2 acre lot, offering two fenced areas and an invisible fence around the entire backyard (works with Pet Safe collars & if your dog becomes a regular guest I’m happy to train them on the invisible fence if you want that). We also have a beautiful path nearby for walks. When indoors, we spend most of our time in the family room. The couch can fit everyone, humans and dogs! Our basement is finished and offers more space for the dogs to play or lounge. I do offer a variety of crates/kennels if needed. I only take 1-4 dog guests at a time (depending on size & behavior) he/she must have a meet & greet beforehand. Our dog guests must be up-to-date on their vaccines for the safety of all pets and humans. They must be dog and kid friendly. We have 3 human children: 2 boys (15, 13) and one girl (7). We have 3 fur kids: Gus (5) cocker spaniel mix, Journee (3) Beagle/Dachshund mix, and Maya (4) Bernedoodle. Our dogs are a big part of our family. They are the perfect mix of playful and lazy.
Our Family 2023
Gus is 5 years old. We adopted him from Tails when he was a year old. He’s mostly Cocker-spaniel and some hound. I call him my cat-dog. He is very chill and his favorite spot to lay is on the back of the couch or on his dog bed. He’s the dog that rescued ME!
Journee’s journey began as my foster dog! I loved her so much that I couldn’t say goodbye. We adopted her when she was 9 months old. She is now 3. She is mostly Beagle and Dachshund. She is always on my lap if I’m sitting. She also loves being outside in the warm weather chasing rabbits! Her name is Journee because she had quite a journey at the start of her life, but my favorite band is also Journey.
Maya is 4 years old. She is a Bernedoodle. A mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. She enjoys being outside laying on the deck, even in the winter. She loves all of the attention. She wants to be near her people at all times. She has the best eyebrows around! She is also the biggest barker & the leader of the welcoming doggy choir when someone comes to the house!
Our Home
and Yard
The view from our deck and a favorite spot to relax.
One fenced area of the yard.
Another fenced area.
Sorry, no dogs in the pool. I have a portable fence that prevents doggy dives and drinks. It’s covered and fenced off during the winter.
Resort Style Lounging
Our family room and the place we spend most of the time. The couch is big enough for all the humans and dogs!
The other spot in the house that’s popular- the kitchen! We now have ruggable rugs around the island.
The dog’s crates/kennels are located in our finished basement. We have a variety of sizes and styles. Crates/kennels are used only when necessary. I also have large panels that I can put together to make a very large single enclosure.
The basement living space.
A cozy couch for everyone! I love the natural light from the big windows in the basement.
